Biography

Another step in his career Donny released a second CD “I’ll Do Anything For You” in the fall of 2009. This was a follow up to his debut CD “Dear Lover” released in 2006. A writer, Poet, Actor, Singer, Author  and Entertainer keeps Donny’s plate full. His Book a mini Biography “This Is Lady Patra North Secret Of My Song was published in 2000 and is still a fun and informative read for the Lady Patra Fans.

Film and TV projects include “The Show So Gay” a fun Mockumentary features  Donny in his drag persona  Lady Patra  as a gay drag queen mother figure to two young gay best friends  who do everything together.

 The Kid of a Dancer / Entertainer known as “Miss Betina” Donny began his career very early in life as an entertainer in world famous venues such as Club Cabaret and The Gay Nineties in Minneapolis, where he entertained thousands of people with his stunning impressions of Diana Ross. Many would comment on his resemblance to the superstar.

 Over the years Donny has gained recognition as a Female Impersonator / Entertainer with awards to his credit such as Miss Gay Minneapolis, Empress Of Zoogies, Queen Of Hearts and Celebrity Look-A-Like (as Diana Ross) to name a few. Upon entering and winning the  Empress of Zoogies contest in the eightes where he first met and was crowned by the outrageous drag queen know as “ Divine” , Donny went on to become a live vocalist in talent competitions ie. The Mn. State Fair. It was then that he mixed his live vocals with his female impersonations to become a live performer entertainer known as the legendary “Lady Patra”.

 Like many performers Donny had the majority of his vocal experience from the church he was a member of where he would sing with the choir and on occasion be granted the solo spot on some songs.

 A Pilot filmed for television “Josh and Sandi” also featured Donny as the character Ms. Ross and has cast him in the shows second season entitled “LeStrangle and Dance” which is currently available on DVD.

 Two interviews with two major Television Networks featuring his Diana Ross Impersonations, a celebrity interview with Female Impersonator David –De-Alba, radio interviews on Rainbow World Radio and appearances on the same stage with celebrities Rupaul, Taylor Dane and Boy George has kept Donny very active in his career.

 Donny has done several projects with film makers to include Featured Extra Roles in “Justice” and “Factotum” two movies filmed in the Minneapolis Area. Other movie projects for Donny include “Nobody” 2009, “Sister Mary” 2009, “On Night Has Been Mountain “ 2009,  “ The City”  2009 and Health Freaks” 2009.  “Dazzled – The Donny West Story”  a film documentary about the entertainers life is scheduled to be finished by late summer 2009!

 In 2008 Donny appeared in an  episode of  “The Wazoo Show” as a celebrity Guest and a music video for “The Vibro Champs” entitled “Anything For Baby”. A stroblist  model shoot with actor friend Landyn Banx in the winter of 2009 as well as many other projects keep Donny busy.

 Donny is an Award winning Female Impersonator with numerous awards in a variety of categories and he also has won the “For The Record Award” 2003  which recognizes literature on the GLBT community from www.stonewallsociety.com  for his Biography “This Is Lady Patra”. Other awards  Donny recently has been presented with were “Favorite Film Star” “Performance Artist Award”  For his role as “Miss Ross in “Lestrangle And Dance” 2004  also from www.stonewallsociety.com peoples choice.  He has been interviewed on Rainbow World Radio and his music has been featured on the radio program. Most of the lyrics to Donny's songs were written by himself and inspired by his life experiences and friendships.
